Kicking Back And Crocheting

Pioneer Becky Doll

Good morning, all. Today’s post is going to be on a light note, with lots of pictures to fill it out. I’ve mentioned before that I suffer from a number of chronic illnesses, including Fibromyalgia, Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, Thyroid Disease, GERD. and many more. Unfortunately, they leave me in constant pain, day and night. Things have been a little rough lately, and I’m feeling pretty exhausted. So, to get back to the light note, I’m going to tell you about one of my favorite hobbies: crocheting.

I taught myself to crochet when I was young, still pre-teen. It seemed pretty difficult back then, and I didn’t really get into it much. As I got older, I gave it another try and this time it all seemed to make more sense. I’ve crocheted off and on now for over 30 years. I think I’ve gotten pretty good at it now and like expanding and trying new things.

Since I don’t get out of my house much anymore, I do a lot of crocheting. Plus, I love collecting patterns. I have hundreds…more than I’ll ever be able to actually make. Still, I keep collecting, because it’s fun. These kinds of things keep me out of trouble, give my hands and mind something to focus on, and gives me enjoyment both in the process of creation and the fun of giving gifts to family. I even have a little shop on Etsy called Expression of Joy . I lost my joy for quite a while, but have learned the value of finding it in even the littlest of things. It’s an ongoing lesson. But, crocheting brings me joy. So, here are some of my crocheted creations for your perusal and enjoyment. These are some of what I made for Christmas last year, except for the Anniversary Dolls. Of course, I can’t show what I’m making for this Christmas, yet!!

    • Thank you. You’re right, crocheting and knitting and such is very hand and wrist intensive. I wear therapeutic gloves when I work and I have to stop and massage my hands and wrists quite a lot. Since my hands hurt all the time anyway, I figure I might as well get something worthwhile out of it! Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Linda………I’m so sorry you’re going thru this much pain. I wish you the very best and will hope things somehow find a way to improve. There are a lot of us who love you dearly.

PS: Do I ‘owe’ you a post?

    • Thanks, Pete, I really appreciate the support. I wish there was enough research to find cures for some of these things, but I’d settle for better treatments. Actually, I “owe” you a post. I need to get that review of your book done. If you owe me anything….it’s to get your next book published and out so I can read more tales from the life of an FBI profiler!! The first book was so good I can’t wait to find out more. Take care.

      • A review would be great. I had 13 good ones on Amazon, and for some reason they chopped 4 of ’em out. No clue why, but I hear if you complain, they remove everything. Sounds like a bunch of Nazi’s!!

      • Just checked and it’s there. Thanks for the nice comments. I had 9 on there, got 2 more, which one would think adds up to 11, but no, somehow Amazon got rid of one. But, at least I’m up in double figures finally! Thanks again.
